Help Deptford Cinema petition Lewisham Council for rate relief

The community-focused and community-run Deptford Cinema, which stepped into the gap left by the closure of all cinemas in Lewisham borough, is currently running a petition asking Lewisham's council to grant it rate relief. The cinema is facing trying times given it has not been granted the same relief status as other community-focused businesses and charities. Running a cinema with volunteers is tough under any circumstances, and rate relief to acknowledge this would be a much needed lifeline.

You can read more about the cinema here and sign the petition here.

Disclaimer time! The Smoke Screen has programmed a few films at the cinema, and can testify to the commitment of all involved in serving the local community with a diverse and affordable selection of films and events.
