Zack Snyder's follow up to his 2013 film Man of Steel, which rebooted the Superman franchise,  has been officially titled Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

This official title seems to all but confirm that the new film, which features Ben Affleck as the new Batman, Henry Cavill as a returning Superman alongside newcomer Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, will set up the long-proposed Justice League movie. With this team-up, DC Comics and parent company Warners will be able to boast a rival to Marvel Studio's hugely successful superhero combo The Avengers.

Dawn of Justice was originally scheduled for a 2015 release but has now been put back to May 2016. Other cast members include Jesse Eisenberg as villain Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons as Batman's butler Alfred. Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane return as Lois Lane, Perry White and Martha Kent respectively.
