News: 'Anonymous v Steubenville' Rolling Stone article to be adapted for the screen by Brad Pitt's Plan B

Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B recently secured the rights to a story on the role of hacktivist group Anonymous in the Steubenville, Ohio teen rape case. You can read the original article by David Kushner here. The Guardian's  Plan B recently celebrated snagging the best film oscar for Steve McQueen's Twelve Years a Slave.

The original article focused on Anonymous collective member Deric Lostutter, who launched a campaign in support of a 16-year-old girl who was raped by high school football players and then saw her case covered up by school officials. Lostutter’s Anonymous operation brought attention to an alleged cover up by adults in the city of Steubenville in 2012. Four school workers were later charged with trying to thwart an investigation into the rape.

For his role in the exposition, which brought worldwide media attention to the city, Lostutter faces up to ten years in prison. The two football players were sentenced to one year and two years in prison.
