Deptford Cinema’s regular horror season Full Moon Film Night continues this month with the first feature film written and directed by the acclaimed Mexican director Guillermo del Toro, CRONOS (1993).

Antique dealer Jesus Gris stumbles across Cronos, a 400-year-old scarab that, when it latches onto him, grants him eternal life but also a thirst for blood.

With Cronos Guillermo del Toro reinvents the typical vampire legend and tells it from a brand new perspective that turns the “vampire” into an ordinary human being unwittingly becoming immortal and with a desire to drink human blood.

Cronos won the grand prize in the Critics’ Week at the 1993 Cannes Film Festival and nine Mexican Academy Awards, including best picture and director.
