Life May Be+ ScreenTalk with Mark Cousins and Mania Akbari (December 11, Barbican, 6.30pm)

Smoke Screen are devoted fans of the works and writing of Mark Cousins, famed for his poetic, highly personal journeys through the various, usually lesser-known, alleys of film history. Cousins is the force behind the epic A Story of Film, which aired over the course of some  900 minutes over Channel 4 several years ago.

In this latest personal contemplation of Iranian cinema - Cousins has long promoted Iran's film talent and history- Iranian filmmaker and artist Mania Akbari and filmmaker and writer Mark Cousins write cine-letters to one another, while Mania is exiled, and Mark travels Lithuania.

The Barbican hosts Mania and Mark for a Screen Talk after the film, chaired by Time Out Film Editor Dave Calhoun.
